Drugstore vs. Department Store~ Miliani Eye Pencil vs. UD 24/7Liner

Hey Y'all!

I was in desparate need of a new black eye liner pencil, for my lower lash line and waterline... I feel naked without it. If you know me then you know I'm very picky about my eye liners.. I expect the following.. A dark and rich black liner that  lasts all day.. I'm not really asking for much..

My holy grail eye liner pencil is Urban Decay's 24/7 Liner in Zero... As you can see in the pic. I'm down to a bunch of liner nubs (yep there's more, I'm a liner nub hoarder)... Well my nubs are almost pretty useless. They are getting to short to sharpen :(

My schedule has been hectic lately and I don't have the time or engery or the willpower to lack temptation to go to Ulta or Sephora to pick up a new one. Also the UD Liners retail for $18.

I heard good things about Milani's Eye Pencils so I was in CVS the other night and I decided to grab one and test it...

E.L.F. 32 Piece Eyeshadow Collection Palette~Product Review

Hey Y'all!

I spied this colorful 32 piece E.L.F. palette in Target a month or so ago. I told myself that I didn't need it. I don't need it. I wanted it. So I was a good girl and I ignored it and kept my $6 and forgot about it. Ok I didn't forget about it. I saw it two more times and resisted the temptation. Yesterday I went to Target and I noticed that I didn't see the palette anymore and I was about to kick myself. Then I went to my "spot".. The cosmetics and beauty clearance section... I found it for $3.68. ALL I DO IS WIN!!!!

I'm going to skip the crap and get straight to the review. I noticed that the eyes shadows are not all evenly pigmented. The bolder darker colors are really pigments and the color payoff is great. Some of the neutral and lighter colors aren't as pigmented and appeared a bit dull and chalky (packing the color on the brush led to the chalkiness.

Glitter fallout. Big chunky glitter fallout. Glitter everywhere. Like Urban Decay chunky glitter fallout

All of the colors are pigmented equally.

Seriously I got this for less than $4. I was really annoyed by the chunky glitter fallout because I wan't expecting it and I was kinda annoyed that I had to remove it after I had already done my face makeup. (I'm weird, sometimes I do my face first, sometimes  I do it last depends on my mood and my knowledge of potential glitter fallout). If you use a base the pigmentation issues aren't a big deal. I noticed that stickier/creamy bases work better. UDPP or Too Faced Shadow Insurance isn't enough. They worked will with NYX Jumbo Pencils and MAC Paint Pots.

So run to Target and check out the clearance section near the cosmetics before it's gone.

Smashbox's Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer

Hey Y'all!!!

I feel like sharing. It's starting to get hot in Atlanta!! I love summer and warm weather so I'm not complaining. Hot weather also means no foundation for me, unless its a special occasion, late in the evening. There's just no point. My face needs to breathe and melty faces aren't cute!

For the past year during the warmer months I've been using Smashbox's Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer Oil Free UVA/UVB SPF 15. This stuff is holy grail status for me!

It's no secret that I have a dark complexion, I've been looking for a tinted moisturizer that actually matched me for a long time. At one point I was mixing a little bit of my regular foundation with my face moisturizer. I need something more than Ivory, Buff, or Tan!!!  I have darkskin!! Maybe Smashbox secretly heard my whining and complaining because they have a shade called DARK. Dark matches me perfectly.

Tinted Moisturizer is not foundation. The coverage isn't much. It's thin, light and sheer. It's just enough to help even out your complexion and fix minor flaws. After I apply I use a bit of bronzer over it. I like to glow. This brand also has SPF 15.

Directions: For longer wear, apply Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer over the Photo Finish Foundation Primer of your choice using fingertips.

A little goes a long way. A pea sized amount is enough to cover my face.

I do notice that the product lasts longer when a primer is used. I sometimes skip that step because if it's really hot I don't feel like its worth putting on primer. I also find that this products works fine and blends well with concealer underneath.

Don't tell anybody but purchased mine over a year ago and I still have a good amount left. The "rules" say you should toss stuff after a certain amount of time. I'm a rule breaker. I will probably have to get a new one in about a month or so. I'm on a "beauty budget" but I find this product worth the price. It's really worth it to me because it actually matches.

Personal Microderm System At Home ~ Product Review

Hey Y'all

I was recently sent a PMD (Personal Microderm) System to review. It's an at home Microderm Abrasion kit that offers the same results as going to a Dermatologist, or Spa.

I was excited to test out the system because I'm getting older and I need to up my "prevention" routine. I'm starting to notice things about my face that I swear weren't there before (>_<) I also have some hyperpigmentation issues that I would love to never see again.  It's less noticable when I'm wearing makeup and during the summer when my face has it's "summer glow", but I have to be careful and protect my face from the sun. Also I live in Atlanta and theres ozone issue here..

Its recommend to use the system once a week for the first few times. I've only had the opportunity to the system 3 times (once a week for the past three weeks).

The PMD System comes in a compact box with the following items:

1 Personal Microderm (duh)

6 Exfoliating Discs (2 green, 4 blue)

1 Electric Cord (to plug it in, it doesn't take batteries)

2 Caps

1 Reusable Filter (not pictured)

Breif Writtten Instructions and and an Instructional DVD (not pictured)

Watch the DVD, WATCH THE DVD, WATCH THE DVD!!!! I rolled my eyes too. I think I know everything. The written instructions are very brief. The DVD is not long at all about 10 minutes and it wasn't cheesy. The DVD covers everything you need to know in detail. It explains how to hold the unit, how to clean it, how to hold you skin taught while using the unit, it explains the difference between two disc sizes and colors.

Initial Thoughts ~I expected it to be quieter. It's not loud. It's slightly louder than an electric toothbrush (Crest Spinbrush Pro if you wanna get specific) The neighbors wont hear you, your roomate might. I would recommend turning the unit on and getting used to the sound before putting it on your skin. The sound was initially a little intimidating to me at first. That intimidation went away after the first use.

The suction scared me too a first. You really have to be comfortable and calm during your first try. Use it when your relaxed and when you have plenty of time.

The PMD is small but its powerful. It fit comfortably in my hand. I'm a lefty :) I had no lefty issues.

I'm not going to lie. It hurt the first time.  I've never had Mircroderm Abrasion done before so I really didn't know what it was going to feel like or what to expect. The closest thing that I can think of to comparing the feeling to is taking a new nail file (a real gritty one) and rub it back and forth on the back of your hand. That's what it felt like to me. Even though it kinda hurt. It sorta felt good. Like I was freeing all the stuff off my face. Each use afterwards was less noticeable.

I was also sent 2 sample products from M2 Skin Technologies Skin Refinish 20% serum and M2 Skin Recovery Moisturizer. These two products are highly acidic and you should NOT use them after a PMD Treatment. I really fail at life. The first time I used the system I watched the DVD and took everything in the bathroom and set up my little home spa. I thought I re-read everything and I used the Skin Refinish after the PMD and I felt like my face was going to explode. Nothing has ever burned or stung me that bad in my life. It literally brought me to tears and lots of cold water and panic call to my moms office (she works in a Derm Practice 900 miles from me) Then I went into the other room and read the letter that came with the system and it said "Do not apply directly after a Personal Microderm Treatment-this would create an unhappy experience and would probably be very painful". I don't usually use "strong" language on my blog but "that sh!t hurt like a b!tch" ...

I also noticed that the next time I used the M2 Skin Technology products that I had a slight reaction to the products. It was also very hot here and I tend to break out in a very fine rash if I sweat a lot so I'm not sure what the culprit was. M2 Skincare products do look promising and I still want to test time out. I just have to introduce my face to products one at a time. I also was using a new sunscreen on my face too so I really thing it was too many new things on my face at one time.

Overall ~ My face does feel smoother. I can't really tell if my hyperpigmentation issues are improving because it's May and although I'm anal about sunscreen I am a bit "brown girl tanned" so I don't know if its the PMD System or the sun. I really feel that three weeks wasn't enough time to see long term results. I'd like to continue to use the product for a longer period of time and follow up later. Certain skin issues can take many treatments to see results.

This isn't mentioned in the instructional DVD or written instructions but I found that I prefer to use the PMD in the evening. I found that after a treatment my face kind of bothered me a bit. Not in a bad way, but lets be real your pretty much "blasting away" dead skin cells on your face. My skin is a little sensitive and I found that putting on SPF and makeup shortly after a treatment to be a little bothersome to my skin. Even though it says on the DVD that it is ok to do so. I prefer to use it at night when I know I'm not going to need to put on sunscreen or makeup right away.

You should be wearing sunscreen!!! If your using the PMD be extra diligent about sunscreen. You don't want to expose your new fresh face to the harmful sun! Also Microderm Abrasion can make your face more sensitive to the sun.

Overall Rating -♥ ♥ ♥/5 I'm still feeling neutral about this product. I feel that I need more time to really see the results that I am looking for. I plan to continue using it longterm. I also think that in todays world we expect to see immediate results ASAP and expect quick fixes and that isn't always going to happen.

Product Review ~ Milani Infinite Liquid Eyeliner

I think I found a new holy grail product... I'm really picky about my liquid eyeliners. I was in love with my NYX Liquid Eyeliner. It was perfect but I can't find it. I'm sure it's out there but I couldn't find it in my usual places (Ulta, Beauty Supply Store). I don't have time patience to hunt for liquid eyeliner. I decided to take a chance and try something new. I was in Target and I spied the Milani display and I've heard good things about their pencil liners so I took a chance.

 

What Milani Claims ~ “Up to 24 hour long lasting formula that wears with comfort and color intensity to perfection. Now you can line your eyes with ease for an all day long elegant glance. Remove with makeup remover.

Pros

Price $5.99 (0.17 fl. oz)

Brush is precise

The handle thick and short which is great if you have a shaky hand.

It's black enough when dry. :)

Lasts all day. Doesn't smudge or peel.

Waterproof (even tear proof, I was crying over some non-sense and it didn't budge)

Cons

It comes out a little thick on the brush tip. (I think it may be because it's new and full of product).

It's very waterproof. You need a good Eye Makeup remover.

Takes a little while to dry.

 

 

I really feel like this liquid liner is a great buy and is priced very pocket friendly. I love it as much as Urban Decay's Liquid Liner and it's less than half the price.

Product Review ~ Wet & Wild Mega Eyes Cream Eyeliner

 

Hey Y'all!

I'm taking this "review more drugstore stuff" promise too far, but I gotta do what I gotta do.. I don't really like to post "hauls" so much anymore because I really like to play with a product before I discuss it and I don't like to take photographic evidence of my shopping.

I noticed that my MAC Fluidline Eyeliner is getting a little funky and chunky.. Eww So in the name of research I picked up Wet N' Wild's Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner.

 

 

Since I can't stand that brush that it came with, I use this brush and it was so much better. The hairs in the Wet N' Wild brush are flimsy. >_<. I wasn't expecting "quality" when I only paid $3.99

Not black enough. I like a sharp dark blank almost patent leather kinda black line...

The brush that it comes with kind sucks >_< It sucked so bad that I didn't like the product until I tried it with a different brush.

Product Review ~ Sephora Hello Kitty Brush Set

Hey Y'all

If you know me, you know that I co-sign on anything Hello Kitty. So naturally I thrilled when Sephora released a Hello Kitty Collection back in January. They made it seem so exclusive and limited. I had to have it.I was all over it. I received a email again about the collection this week (guess it's not so limited edition and special), and I don't want anything else?? Huh?? What?? *gasp* It didn't spark my interest at all after my first go round of puckery over the brush set. I was even in Sephora yesterday and I gave the collection major side eye.

I ordered the brush set & Apple Balm  in January and honestly... The brush set SUCKS its only good for "collection" purposes.  Sephora is claims that the brushes are "professional quality"? They are cute because they are pink. I knew they would be small because I read some reviews before I purchased. They are mini. I wouldn't even want to travel with them or use them as a travel set...

I'm didn't end up returning it because I'm a Hello Kitty fan and I do like the holder, not for brushes I actually keep my cotton rounds in there.

This "situation" reminded me to research harder and better in the future and not just buy something because it's Hello Kitty.

Shattered & Crackled-China Glaze Crackle Polish Review

 

Hey Y'all!

I finally got my greedy little hands on some shatter nail polish. I was straight up stalking Ulta looking for O.P.I.'s Black Shatter from the O.P.I. Katy Perry Collection. They were always sold out as well as other stores that carry O.P.I. I even had a stupid coupon!  >_< I heard that China Glaze had their own collection. So I went to Sally's in search of this damn "unicorn" polish.

The China Glaze Crackle Collecion has 5 colors. They are priced at $4.99 or 2 for $10 with a Sally's Card.

I purchased Black Mesh (Black)  and Fault Line (Purple).

My first attempt came out a little wonky. I should of done two coats of my base color Essie Status Symbol (Pink)

I found that you really have to let your base color dry completely 100% to get the best "crackle/shattered" look. The Crackle polish dries really fast matte but when you add a top coat it will be shiny.

Overall I like this polish and it's fun to play with use under different base colors.

Spa Pedicure for Broke Girls

Hey Y'all!

Spring is sorta here in Atlanta. I realized that toe/foot exposure season is coming soon. Let me start off by saying that I hate feet and I hate looking at feet and I hate talking about feet!! >_< But I do love saving money and I love sharing my money saving ways.

I went to Sally's yesterday to renew my Sally's card and see if they had any China Glaze Crackle Glaze (which I scored in Purple & Black *does victory dance*). I remembered that it's "foot season" so I grabbed a new Mr. Pumice Block ($2.39) and I found this little gem...

A blow up Pedicure Tub!!! $6.69 with Sally's Card.

I love going to the salon and getting pedicures but I'm sooo ticklish and I tend to kick the poor nail tech and I feel bad. I'm all about saving when I can and this was a great investment in my opinion. It's inflatable so it doesn't take up a lot of space. You can even travel with it, I guess if you want, if its that serious to you.  I usually fill up the bathtub a bit but that's such a waste of water and cleaning time. It's also boring to sit on the edge of the tub and soak my feet. I put this in the living room and watched TV on the couch :)

Sally's also had some foot bath stuff that was $7.99. I passed on it because honestly. I have all kinds of body washes and bath stuff at home. I did get their travel size HEEL to TOE Spa Pedicure Foot Scrub @2.49 with card. I wanted to try it before I bought the full sized one. I really liked it so I will get the full sized one when I run out.

So it's at home Spa Pedicure Time.

1.~ Get all of your stuff ready. I forgot to do this and it ended up getting annoying, I had a keep getting up with wet feet. Grab a towel, pumice, file, polish, toe separators etc..

2.~ Remove any old polish with nail polish remover.

3.~ Blow up your tub (unfold it first it'll fill quicker).

4.~ Fill up the tub with warm water. Don't fill it up all the way like 50%60% full. I used the hottest water ever because I wasn't paying attention and I thought I was going to die of foot burns. >_< While your filling up the tub add your soaking stuff while the water is running so it'll bubble/foam up. I used some Olay Bodywash because seriously I'm soaking my feet and I wasn't buying special foot soak bath.

5.~ Relax & Soak

6.~ After you've soaked a bit, do your thing, trim your nails, file, break out the pumice and foot scrub and go to town.

*Feet really gross me out even my own. I hate PHOTOGRAPHING my own feet, seriously so grossed out..... >_<

7.~ Dry your feet.

8.~ Polish and be creative!

One toe. That's all I can deal with to photograph and post... I'm soo grossed out >_<

Not perfect up close but in real life you will never be this close to my foot.

I used China Glaze Rich & Famous, and I did the horrible design (it was my first time ever) with It's So Easy Stripe Rite in Black (698515) and Sliver (698590).

I want to practice more with the art polish :) Its fun. I've been making all kinds of stripes and designs on my nails. I will never pay for nail art again :)

Product Review ~ Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse

Hey Y'all!
I was talking to a friend yesterday (Hi, Anya *waves*) and she was telling me that I need to break out of my department store foundation box and review some drugstore brands because she actually reads this blog and values my opinion. I'm not really in the market for a new foundation as I'm content with my MUFE HD Foundation (#185) and MAC MSF Foundation (NW50).                                                                                                                                                                             They work, I like them and they match me. I wont lie.. It's hard out here for an end of the brown color spectrum girl to find a good foundation match. >_< The hunt for a good match leaves me feeling stank and defeated sometimes.

I was in Ulta today, looking for a toner because I can't run to Korea to get more of my beloved 3W Clinic Olive Toner ran out *cries*, when I remembered to take a look at the foundations. I tend to be more hesitant when it comes to buying drugstore foundations because if they don't match I get frustrated because the stores usually don't have testers. >_< Seriously, do you hear me drugstores, get some FREAKIN' testers!!! Real testers not that stupid clear plastic film that you hold up to your face! I want to "try before I buy".
I decided to try the Dream Liquid Mousse because it promises an "Airbrush Finish" and if I can look airbrushed in life I'm down. I also choose this one because they actually had a dark shade in stock. Cocoa Dark #3. I made sure that if it wasn't a match that it was returnable and the sales associate said yes.

What Maybelline Claims

I still had pores. Maybelline is really reaching by claiming 100% poreless skin.

I would feel more comfortable using MAC or MUFE if I was doing my face for photography reasons.

I'm obsessed with pores now..

Hi Y'all!! I got a new product that I wanted to share with you guys.

My hair tends to get very dry during the winter months. I cannot express how important it is to take care of your natural hair if your wearing a weave or extensions. If you are wearing a "protective style" don't neglect what's underneath!

I recently self-installed, translation I did my own weave/extensions. No I didn't document the process. I will probably never do it again. To the self installers out there BLESS YOUR HEARTS!!! It's not for me. All the braiding, and sewing for hours... My arms were burning my fingers got numb.. Every fiber of my body hurt. I got tired of staring at myself in the mirror. I was isolated from society for like a day and a half. Overall it looks good and will tide me over until I get to see a professional.

Anywho, back to the product review. I purchased this product because I was getting the "Day #2 Itches". My natural hair gets randomly itchy after a new install. I refuse to "pat my weave", I personally think its tacky when done in public.

I found the packaging of this product perfect!!! Since it comes in a nozzle type bottle, it is easy to get the product under your extensions to your natural hair easily. The "No Drip" formula is perfect and makes application less messy.

I also use it on my leave out (natural hair left out to cover the tracks), edges and on the back of my hair where I left some hair out. I find it easier to squeeze a bit, like a pea sized amount  (a little goes a long way) on my fingers.

Please don't use this product directly on your extensions if you wear them. They will look like  greasy H.A.M. (Hot A$$ Mess), and you will have to wash it out. Although I have used a little bit on my ends.

I've been using this product for over a week and I really like it.

Pros:

• Very affordable. I found it in Wal-Mart for $6


• Good for various hair types


• No mess due to the no drip formula

Cons:

• The product tends to separate a little in the bottle and since it's thick you can't shake it.


• It's very easy to squeeze out a lot of product due to the consistency and you might get a little more than expected.

Hey ya'll!!! I wanted to do a product review since I haven't done one in a really long time. 
This review is dedicated to Ms. Jacquelyn because she puts up with all my ridiculousness on twitter!! She's a non-lazy blogger unlike myself. She pushes me to to shut up and bang out my posts!!
I've been in the market for a new mascara and I found a coupon for Maybelline's Volume Express Line.. Shut up!! Times are hard coupons are like little paper presents. Seriously! I bought this a while ago and I still see a coupon for it almost every week in the coupon thing that comes in the mail every week. 

I decided to try their Volum' Express The Falsies.. I purchased it at Wal-Mart for like $6 (with my coupon).  According to Maybelline you'll love it because....

The only downside is the I have the waterproof formula and it's not easy to wash off. I have to use hardcore eye makeup remover and then wash my face. If I only wash my face this stuff is staying. It's not a big deal for me personally. Only when I'm feeling lazy....
Volum' Express The Falsies reminds me of two of my favorite mascaras in one..

Imju Fiberwig Paint on False Lashes 

and Shiseido's Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus

but easier on my wallet.

Overall I give this mascara 4/5 ♥♥♥♥ - Which says a lot because I'm really picky about mascara.

Product Review- Bare Minerals Starter Kit (Deep)

Hi Y'all!!! I'm posting from HOME! Well I guess it isn't 'home' anymore... It's my parents house!!  It's sooo cold in the Northeast, it's like 20 degrees..
I know I'm like so 5 years late but the Bare Minerals Starter Kit has been staring at me for a while and I had a gift card & a coupon and I decided to grab it.  I've tried other mineral foundation before but I have the hardest time finding one that matches my complexion.  I'm a NW50. I acutally let the Sephora SA color match me and it looked good in the store. The kit comes with two different foundation shades.  My matching shade was Golden Deep.  The SA said that in the summer I may need to use the Deepest Deep.

What's Inside?

The Starter kit also came with a step-by-step booklet, 0.5oz Prime Time Foundation Primer and a DVD (didn't watch it yet, I'm sure it's the same as the infomercial....

Start off with a clean face & moisturize. Then prime your skin either with the Prime Time or whatever brand of foundation primer you like.

 Excuse the semi-naked face!  I started playing with this stuff at like 3am... I got lazy and didn't feel like doing my eyes....

I'm not sure how I feel about this kit..... I've used it three times and the finished look doesn't "wow" me.  It does it's job and has ok coverage. It doesn't give me the 'glow' that I get with my MAC.  I'm also kinda lazy.... There's too many steps... Prep....  Foundation....Warmth... & Veil....  Then all that pouring....swirling... tapping & buffing.... I spend more time working on my eyes and playing with eyeshadow..... By the time I get to my foundation I just wanna prep and then slap it on & set it and be done.. Maybe with more use all the steps wont seem as tedious....  I really like the brushes! They are super soft and easy to handle so if anything I have 3 new brushes that I really like!

So I give this product......
