Brush Stuff I ~ Storage

Hey Ya'll!!!

I've gotten a few comments and questions asking me all kinds of questions about my makeup brushes and how I store and clean them. Instead of a super long photo heavy post, I decided to break it down into a few posts. :)

I figured I would start with how I store my brushes. I purchased two Sephora Collection Makeup Brush Box - Large - Black Item # 1116045 (sorry y'all I can't find it on Sephora's website anymore. I purchased them in 2009). I recently saw one very similar at Wal-Mart and I'm sure its the same thing and costs 50% less than what I paid for these from Sephora.

I used to use brush rolls but I grew out of them. I only use them for travel.

This is what they look like. I have two holders so thats six compartments. The insides are lined with black velvet which gets a little dirty (from the brushes and dust sometimes. I just wipe them with a wet on when I want to clean them.

All Most of my brushes together in their homes :) I have some others in random places and travel brushes put away that I don't reach for on a regular basis.

I organize my brushes in categories that make sense to me.

1. ~ Fan Brushes, Eyeliner Brushes (angled etc), Lip Brushes

2. ~  Eye Blending & Smudging, & Crease Brushes, Detail Brushes

3. ~  Eyeshadow Lid Brushes (fluffy, small, regular) & my Eyebrow Comb

4. ~Fluffy Face Brushes

5. ~ Blush Brushes

6. ~ Airbrushes, Stippling Brushes, Concealer Brushes (a random black eyeliner that didn't fit where it belongs because its too long and random nail file)

Oh stop judging me!!! I know I need to clean my brushes. It's not brush bath night ;)

As much as I want this palette. I will probably have to pass. I doubt that the blushes will complement my skin tone. I also own all of the eyeshadow colors in some form or another. :( If I get this it would be for "collection purposes" only. *tear*

Product Review ~ Sephora Hello Kitty Brush Set

Hey Y'all

If you know me, you know that I co-sign on anything Hello Kitty. So naturally I thrilled when Sephora released a Hello Kitty Collection back in January. They made it seem so exclusive and limited. I had to have it.I was all over it. I received a email again about the collection this week (guess it's not so limited edition and special), and I don't want anything else?? Huh?? What?? *gasp* It didn't spark my interest at all after my first go round of puckery over the brush set. I was even in Sephora yesterday and I gave the collection major side eye.

I ordered the brush set & Apple Balm  in January and honestly... The brush set SUCKS its only good for "collection" purposes.  Sephora is claims that the brushes are "professional quality"? They are cute because they are pink. I knew they would be small because I read some reviews before I purchased. They are mini. I wouldn't even want to travel with them or use them as a travel set...

I'm didn't end up returning it because I'm a Hello Kitty fan and I do like the holder, not for brushes I actually keep my cotton rounds in there.

*Sorry about the blurriness on the top I found my refection when I took the pic. It's hard to photograph shiny reflective objects sometimes.

 

This "situation" reminded me to research harder and better in the future and not just buy something because it's Hello Kitty.

Cons

~Brushes aren't professional quality as described.

~ Brushes are tiny NOT small or mini

Pros (I'm making Lemonade out of this Lemon of a product)

~Nice Hello Kitty Holder to add to my Hello Kitty stash.

~ Brush Holder is great for storing things like Q-Tips and cotton rounds.

I Needed A Lil' Something....

Hi Y'all!!! It's been like FOREVER since I've bought myself anything "fun" and beauty related... I killed my favorite lip gloss there's like NONE left. Instead of being ghetto and cutting it open *thought about it*. I decided to replace it. I'm trying so hard to be careful with my money and only purchase things that I need because I have responsibility like rent & utilities and I freak out about paying my bills on time and not having stuff  "cut off"....


Anywhoo, I found myself in the Perimeter Mall this past weekend searching for a replacement lippie. Yes search! I could of gone to Ulta and bought the same one but I figured since it's fall a new season I needed a new shade. So I purposely didn't go to Ulta because I would of grabbed Whisper again... I went to the MAC Store and it was really busy and I was wearing black and people kept thinking I worked there because my face was on point.. So I had to go... As much as I wanted to help the poor babies in MAC, I wasn't getting paid so I kept it moving to Sephora (they also wear black FAIL). I swatched & sniffed (yea sniffed, I don't like lippies that smell werid). I kept getting interrupted because of my black outfit!!!!! >_< So after I helped I lady find a foundation that worked for her I went back to helping myself. She needed me! I'm sorry if this  sounds awful but sometimes not all the time but a lot of the time. Non-ethnic sales associates don't get brown skin. Especially darker skin... She had sista friend looking all ashen and cakey & I couldn't let sista-friend walkout looking a hot mess, it says so in the Bible!!! Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. [Matthew 7:12]  If I was about to purchase foundation and powders that made me look at hot mess I would want some one to step up. WWJD?? So after my good deed, I went back to minding my business and searching and I found her!!!!

Real Post, No Word Vomit! Triple Product Review

Hi y'all!!! My broke behind has a product review!! I really had no business in Sephora....  I'm in a new city and to be 'safe'  I had to check out the malls.  So far my favorite mall is the Perimeter Mall, which is about 20mins from where I'm staying.  Besides I needed to go meet the girls at Sephora and see if they are stalkerish like the ones in CT......  I walked in with two swatches on my hand...

MUFE ~ Waterproof Liquid Liner

I swatched them at Ulta that I happened to find on my way and I wanted to compare them to the MUFE liquid liner.  When it comes to black liquid liner I a bold black almost shiny-ish line. A lot people recommend Fluidline, which I already own but it doesn't really change my life....
I had a psycho pic of the 3 swatches in my phone b/c I tweeted them for opinions, but I must of deleted it. Out of the 3 MUFE won! Figures it was the most expensive *rolls eyes at empty wallet*...  Just a tip, it goes on really wet! I wish the formula was a less runny, I'm not a fan of the brush b/c I like me line a little thicker, so I have to do it twice, but no big deal.

I was also searching for a new mascara. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and step away from my HG Loreal Voluminous & Lash Blast.. Yeah, I mix mascaras! They all do different stuff!

I bought L'oreal Telescopic Explosion and it's alright, didn't change my life.. The wand ball does work for getting all up in your lashes but, I found that too much product gets on the ball wandy thing..... it's not a FAIL but not a win............

I let my cousin Monica borrow it and she feels the same and stole my new phrase 'it didn't change my life' but with a southern twang. So I was still on the prowl.  While I was in Sephora I noticed the sales girl had, nice lashes and she said she uses Bare Ecentuals Buxom Lash Mascara.  So I copied her and grabbed it. I really like it! It's black black and doesn't smudge or fade. I love it!!!  I love the brush, the shape of the brush let's you get all up in your lashes.  I can even get my non-existent bottom lashes with the wand!

I'm on the hunt for a hot roller set!!!! Please leave me a comment with any suggestions & opinions.  I want one that has at least 6-8 jumbo or XL curlers, and the rest large and medium and maybe a few smalls ones.  I'm rocking long ass extensions so I need a set that's geared toward long hair.

My next project is to master individual lashes, I watched my cousin Krissy get them done, and I think if I study some YT tutorials I'll be able to get it down! I'm interested b/c people can wear them for up to 1 or 2 weeks if they don't use any oils around the eye.

I'm so sorry for being a bad blogger.  I'm trying to keep up with everybody, but when moving, getting used to my new environment and keeping up with school, I'm a hott mess.  I was feeling sad and homestick, wanting my mommy like I'm 4yrs old, but I spent the day and over night with me cousin Krissy who lives in Columbus, GA (1hr 20mins from ATL), and I feel better!!
We went to the Columbus mall and I kept Damia- 3yrs old, and Damien- 5wks old while Krissy got beautified in the nail salon.  She had a formal last night for her hubby's graduation to 'Officer' (I think I may have the rank wrong, b/c he has alot of pins on his jacket. I'm going back tomorrow for the official graduation ceremony.  While Krissy and big Damien went to the formal dinner.  I watched the kids, I love kids and babies and for some reason little kids love me, my mom calls me the baby whisperer. When I have kids my baby kid powers wont work and I'll have bad a$$ kids that will get chancletas en la cabeza!!!

Yes, she's wearing heels, lol.... I have her a pedi and we played Toddlers & Tiaras, lol

Little man was chillin' in the swing, as long as I kept the bears over his head spinning.  He was a happy baby :)

Product Review Benefit Girls Night In & Playboy Bunny is Missing!!!!

Hi y'all! Did everyone have a good weekend? Is everyone staying pretty? I managed to lose another pair of lashes at a club on Saturday, *tear*, usually I manage to lose one lash not a pair. Thank god I carry around MARK The Hookup Mascara in my tiny "bar" purse, it fits perfectly because its so tiny. So I somehow found myself in Sephora on Sunday ok, I went there on purpose. I wanted to swatch the Bare Minerals foundation but the "darkest"shade Deep Dark looked kinda wonky me. Note: Deep Dark does not always apply to dark skinned women >_<.... Us "Deep Dark" woman come in many shades of "Deep Dark" I remembered that I wanted to try the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners but I couldn't pick on a shade. Then I saw this....

So of course I wanted to "play" with my new little kit. I decided to try to create a look using only stuff from the set & following the 3 Steps on the back of the packaging... No other colors no other brushes..... Ok I lied I did use mascara......

RESULTS FAIL, EPIC FAIL

The consistacy of the Creaseless Cream Shadow liners are kinda thin and really "spready" <-new word... I kinda expected them to be like a MAC PaintPot, which I usually apply with my ring finger. You definatley need to use a brush to apply these, or a very gentle & light finger. They kinda spread weird too... I'm just not used to the texture. There were smudgies all over the place.

The "line" I drew came out pretty dull & kinda mixed in with the lid color....

Too "FROSTY" looking...

Not Great....

The lipstick that came with the set "Ladies Choice" according to the set claims that "Miraculously, the shade look beautiful on just about every skin tone.

Umm, yeah.... I guess I don't fall into the "just about every skintone group"... If I was a smidge lighter we would of had a winner. I even used a darker liner to "make it work"....

So this faboulous lippie is going to a better home the home of Tammy, since we've started some kinda darkskin/carmel mocha skin doesn't match exchange program......
The kit was $38 at Sephora. I think it's a good deal especially if you want test of the Cream Shadows, they are $19 each at Sephora.
I wanted two so that would of cost me $38, so basically I won & beat the system because I got 2 shades that I like, a brush (which is actually a nice brush), a lippie, 3 cute magnets and makeup bag, that I will probably use for my trip to Atlanta in July.

In other Kendall news. I'm very sad *tear*, the cutest tiniest bunny has been living in my front and backyard for the past few weeks and I haven't seen him in almost two weeks. I love Playboy (I named him Playboy b/c he's a bunny, duh)... I would set on my step and watch him nibble on grass. I even thought about call Child Protective Services on his mama!!! He's a baby, he hardly even has a fluffy tail yet. She like abandoned him. He's so sweet, I got him to come up to me a few times and he keeps me company at night when I go out for a study "ciggie" break....... Here's some pics of my MISSING BUNNY!!!!

I miss him!!! I live in an area with some crazy ass animals that can attack or hurt my sweet little bunny.....
