Sugar Rimmed Nails

Hey Y'all!!

I had to do something to my nails!! They were so plain and boring. So I attempted (key word is attempted) to do a Glittery French Manicure using the hot pink Zoya color I choose at the nail salon.

After I was done I decided to call them Sugar Rimmed Nails! They remind me of a margarita glass rimmed with sugar (I don't like mine rimmed with salt)! Well sparkly sugar....

I used Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear (200 Strobe Light).

How kinds of designs do you do on your nails. I'm going to break out my Art Deco polishes and my dotting tool and get creative. :)

P.S. I dedicate this attempt at nail art to Ms. DSK Steph. She's much better then me. Her manicures always look so nice and her polish collection is on point. She also is a Jewerlynista Sparkly Entreprenuer!!! When I come to Seattle you better hide all of stuff!!!! xoxoxo

Nail Woes Week #4

Hey Y'all!!!

I caved :( I got a gel overlay on my nails. I feel so much better. No MORE nail woes!! I'm not 100% satisfied with the results. They look thicker than I would like them to be. I might have to change nail salons. I didn't get any designs. I like to do them myself because I suck and I want to learn how  to do them myself.

Sorry I don't know the name of the color. It's a Zoya Nail Polish but the sticker on the bottom of the bottle at the salon was unreadable. :(

So I took the easy way out... Now I need to find a salon that I like.....

Sally Sunday's

Hey Ya'll!

I went to Sally's today for nail polish remover and left with more then that of course. I just wanted to share my finds with you guys.

I finally got a nail dotting tool! Its a double ended brush. The bristle part is for fine detailing and the bottom part is used for dotting (making small dots) and marbleizing!! I also grabbed a new bottle of White Stripe Rite nail art polish. My other one broke.  :(   I've become real interested in doing my own nail art lately, but I only know how to do one design really well. Time to practice..

I also got One 'N Only's Argan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo, Conditioner and Oil Treatment. I got the small sizes so I can see if I like this line. I haven't used them yet but they smell good. The travel size shampoo  and conditioner were $3.39 with a Sally's Card and the Oil Treatment was $5.99 with a Sally's card.

I will definitely review these after I use them a few times. I'm hoping for some good results!!! Yes, I got my nail polish remover but I didn't picture it because its boring and the bottle is really big and was ruining my pics :)

Nail Woes Week #3

Hey Ya'll!!

I know my expectations are high for only four weeks. I wanted longer stronger nails ASAP. Peeling is minimal not as bad as when I began, but they aren't growing  (>_<).

I stumbled upon some nail polishes this weekend!! I actually found Borghese Nail Polishes at Ross!!! For $2.99 and $1.99. They usually retail for $8!!!!

Raspberry Sorbetto & The Base and Top Coat came together as a set for $2.99. Berry Confezione was $1.99.

I also snagged Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in 200 Strobe Light. I needed some glitter in my life :)

I'm really considering learning how to do acrylics or gel nails myself!!! I'm impatient (>_<)

Excuse the sloppiness.. I took the picture before I touched up my "mistakes"

Nail Woes Week #2

Hey Y'all!!!

Not much changed in a week..... DUH... I was kinda hoping to have some banging hot nails after a week but it didn't happen.

I think the Nutra Nail might have helped?  My nails are still weak but I've noticed less splitting and my polish actually lasted for a week (the polish chips worse when my nails split).

I hate chipped polish it makes me feel dirty.. I know I'm a werido.... So I decided to go purple this week.

I painted my ring finger a glittery purple color because all the other beauty bloggers are doing it so I copied!!!! I was tired of my Art Deco three way nail flick design. I need to learn how to do some new designs and pick up some more colors...

NutraNail ~ Flex Shield Nail Hardener, China Glaze ~ Grape Juice 717, Essence Color & Go ~ Go Wild

That's most of the stuff I used. I forgot to photograph my Burt's Bee's Cuticle Cream (>_<). I love that stuff!!!! I'll save it for Week #3...

Have a Great Memorial Day Weekend!!!!

Nail Woes Week 1

Hey Y'all!!

I've noticed that my nails suck.. They were doing good for a while. Lately they have been looking just raggedy. Splitting and peeling and my polish is chipping faster which is annoying.. I'm considering getting a gel overlay but I really don't want to deal with the cost and maintenece.

So I've decided to try to fix the problem myself. I drink a ton load of water a day (that's supposed to help with nails right?) My mom said that I should get more veggies (I can get a paper cut and she will push her veggie agenda on me), and I picked up a new 4 sided nail buffer block thing (Side 1- Even Out/Side 2-Smooth Nail/Side 3- Buff Nail/Side 4-Shine Nail).I also got some Nutra Nail Flex Shield Nail Hardener. It claims to "Help stop, breaking, tearing, & peeling, & absorbs everyday nail trauma to protect longer. I figure this is something traumatic so I hope its worth it.

I grabbed a new polish Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle Nail Color (Pretty Petunia). I need a miracle so the polish was for extra measure.

I figure I need all the help that I can get. :(  So I'm going to try to make this a series?? I will update weekly for a few weeks and if I can't find a solution then I will consider getting a Gel Overlay :(

If you know of a product or regimen that has worked well for you please let me know in the comments. :) I'm not a nail expert. You can tell by my cheesy nail art. That's the only design that I know how to do... I call it the 3 way flick... I like to think that I've mastered it. Its also on my big toe :)

Speed Dry..

Hey Y'all!!

I've been really into keeping up with my own nails lately. I hate waiting for nail polish to dry. I lack patience.. I've tried numerous sprays and quick dry nail formulas and I've found my holy grail...

OPI Drip Dry.... I wont paint my nails without this stuff!!! It really works!! My manis and pedis and are dry after 5 minutes!!! Really dry, like I can do stuff dry..

Directions: Remove cap and replace with provided dropper. Wait 60 seconds after applying nail lacquer and top coat, then apply 1 to 2 drops of Drip Dry. Nail lacquer is dry to the touch in 60 seconds; thoroughly dry in 5 minutes or less.

They aren't lying! This stuff is addictive. I order mine online because I try to evade retail prices.. I buy mine from a 3rd party seller on Amazon BeautyLand4U. This is my second order with them and I've had no issues. They sell the 9ml bottle for $5.50 +$2 shipping. I think next time I'm going to order the bigger bottle because I've been doing my nails so much lately. You only need a drop per nail. I think I blew threw my first bottle because I was using way to much on each nail. Don't get crazy and be wasteful.

I took a crackle polish break and did something simple. I used two coats China Glaze - 708- VIII-77008 (it has no name), it's a really dark purple with 1 coat China Glaze Grape Juice on top.

For some reason I'm not a fan of "Grape Juice" alone.. I like to layer it...

I realized that 90% of my nail polish stash consists of dark "winter" colors. The only spring summer colors I have are pinks... I need to fix that...

Shattered & Crackled III- China Glaze Black Mesh

Hey Y'all...

I can't stop playing with these crackle polishes. They've become a running series on my blog. Which is a good thing because I'm trying to grow my natural nails and they do best and grow nice when they are polished. I'm trying my best to keep up with my weekly self manicures.

I might treat myself to a professional manicure for my birthday doomsday. Which is getting closer, like everyday... It's looming and lurking in the shadows of early April..

I decided to try white polish with China Glaze's Black Mesh Crackle Polish on top..

I used Wet N' Wild's Wild Shine-#449C. It has no name but it's white so it shouldn't be hard to find. I was kinda disappointed with the white nail polish. It applies kinda streaky and uneven. I got the Wet N' Wild polish at CVS for $3.99. It might just be me though. I never like the result when I paint my own nails white or with pastel/milky colors. Maybe I need to practice more?

Final Result

I love the way my pointer finger came out. I sent this pic to a friend and we named this look "cow nails" :)

I only got to wear this for a few days. I had something "professional" to do today and I don't think that this look was appropriate so I had to take it off this morning. (>_<)

There's something about spring that makes me want to paint my nails and toes :) It was 80 degrees today in Atlanta!! I wanted to blow bubbles and capture butterflies and skip through a meadow barefoot with flip flops.

I'm starting to run out of color combos.. I figured I should ride out this crackle wave before it's over and my stash becomes useless.. I'm looking for a pastel-ish light minty green color to use next time as a base. If you know of a color brand or name. Leave a comment below.

Shattered & Crackled II- China Glaze Fault Line Crackle Polish

Hey Y'all!

I recently did a post on China Glazes Black Crackle Polish, (Black Mesh), so I figure why not do another follow up post on the purple one that I purchased Fault Line.

I like Black Mesh better. It crackles better? I found the purple one a bit thick and applying it too thick doesn't lead to the best result.

I used two coats (lesson learned from previous post) of Confetti in Vava Voom as the base color, one coat of Faultline.

The finished look!

Maybe it was the color combo, but I'm not feeling it. I might try black polish next time as a base, but it's spring and I want to feel spring-ish :)

If you own China Glaze Crackle Polishes what are some of your favorite color combos?

Shattered & Crackled-China Glaze Crackle Polish Review

Hey Y'all!

I finally got my greedy little hands on some shatter nail polish. I was straight up stalking Ulta looking for O.P.I.'s Black Shatter from the O.P.I. Katy Perry Collection. They were always sold out as well as other stores that carry O.P.I. I even had a stupid coupon!  >_< I heard that China Glaze had their own collection. So I went to Sally's in search of this damn "unicorn" polish.

The China Glaze Crackle Collecion has 5 colors. They are priced at $4.99 or 2 for $10 with a Sally's Card.

I purchased Black Mesh (Black)  and Fault Line (Purple).

My first attempt came out a little wonky. I should of done two coats of my base color Essie Status Symbol (Pink)

I found that you really have to let your base color dry completely 100% to get the best "crackle/shattered" look. The Crackle polish dries really fast matte but when you add a top coat it will be shiny.

Overall I like this polish and it's fun to play with use under different base colors.

So the final verdict?

Cons

None

Pros

Cheaper than O.P.I. I got two for $2 over what O.P.I. charges

Great color selection.

I'm usually greedy with my 's, but it's nail polish it really has to FAIL to not get a good score.

Spa Pedicure for Broke Girls

Hey Y'all!

Spring is sorta here in Atlanta. I realized that toe/foot exposure season is coming soon. Let me start off by saying that I hate feet and I hate looking at feet and I hate talking about feet!! >_< But I do love saving money and I love sharing my money saving ways.

I went to Sally's yesterday to renew my Sally's card and see if they had any China Glaze Crackle Glaze (which I scored in Purple & Black *does victory dance*). I remembered that it's "foot season" so I grabbed a new Mr. Pumice Block ($2.39) and I found this little gem...

A blow up Pedicure Tub!!! $6.69 with Sally's Card.

I love going to the salon and getting pedicures but I'm sooo ticklish and I tend to kick the poor nail tech and I feel bad. I'm all about saving when I can and this was a great investment in my opinion. It's inflatable so it doesn't take up a lot of space. You can even travel with it, I guess if you want, if its that serious to you.  I usually fill up the bathtub a bit but that's such a waste of water and cleaning time. It's also boring to sit on the edge of the tub and soak my feet. I put this in the living room and watched TV on the couch :)

Sally's also had some foot bath stuff that was $7.99. I passed on it because honestly. I have all kinds of body washes and bath stuff at home. I did get their travel size HEEL to TOE Spa Pedicure Foot Scrub @2.49 with card. I wanted to try it before I bought the full sized one. I really liked it so I will get the full sized one when I run out.

So it's at home Spa Pedicure Time.

1.~ Get all of your stuff ready. I forgot to do this and it ended up getting annoying, I had a keep getting up with wet feet. Grab a towel, pumice, file, polish, toe separators etc..

2.~ Remove any old polish with nail polish remover.

3.~ Blow up your tub (unfold it first it'll fill quicker).

4.~ Fill up the tub with warm water. Don't fill it up all the way like 50%60% full. I used the hottest water ever because I wasn't paying attention and I thought I was going to die of foot burns. >_< While your filling up the tub add your soaking stuff while the water is running so it'll bubble/foam up. I used some Olay Bodywash because seriously I'm soaking my feet and I wasn't buying special foot soak bath.

5.~ Relax & Soak

6.~ After you've soaked a bit, do your thing, trim your nails, file, break out the pumice and foot scrub and go to town.

*Feet really gross me out even my own. I hate PHOTOGRAPHING my own feet, seriously so grossed out..... >_<

7.~ Dry your feet.

8.~ Polish and be creative!

One toe. That's all I can deal with to photograph and post... I'm soo grossed out >_<

Not perfect up close but in real life you will never be this close to my foot.

I used China Glaze Rich & Famous, and I did the horrible design (it was my first time ever) with It's So Easy Stripe Rite in Black (698515) and Sliver (698590).

I want to practice more with the art polish :) Its fun. I've been making all kinds of stripes and designs on my nails. I will never pay for nail art again :)

My 1st Nail Post!

Hey Y'all!!!  Hope 2010 is starting off well for you guys!!!  I kinda have a Sephora haul but instead of taking pics of a bunch of stuff and talking about it at once I decided to do one or two things at a time.....  Gotta save my content, lol!!!  Since "hauling" isn't really something I get to do much anymore... But anyways....  This is gonna be my first nail related post! I was contacted by a rep from Nailene before I moved to ATL in October asking me if I wanted to try some of there products!!  Of course I said yes. I told her that I was moving and it may be a VERY long time before I got around to posting reviews..Then I left the stuff at home (my parents house) and I shipped it here to ATL with a bunch of other stuff I left there that I planned on shipping to myself.  I've also been wearing an acrylic overlay over my natural nails since April.  I finally took them off Christmas Eve........ I decided not to get them done for a while because I don't exactly have a JOB! So it's not right for me to be getting my hair & nails 'did'.... Just hair! XD
So here's my nail porn....  I really suck at painting my own nails.... It always looks like a blind 3rd grader did them.... I'm not a nail blogger so don't get all pissy if I'm not using the correct nail lingo!

I used Sally Hansen Double Duty Base & Top Coat as a base...(Not pictured)

China Glaze VII  (707) Two coats

Nailene Acrylic Strong Topcoat

Nailene Acrylic Strong Topcoat - "Nailene brings the salon home to you with Acrylic Strong. Lock in color instantly with this super glossy topcoat guaranteed not to chip or peel. Seals in polish for days."

Nailene Bedazzle Super Star Nail Art for Fingers & Toes

Paint Job!!

My nails are really short!! I lost all the length when I sawed off the acrylic overlay.. They also are a little lumpy... Which it my fault for not removing the overlay properly. Some of the thinnest layers are still there and I'm to lazy to soak...  I also have a retarded pinky nail!!! I thought it was acrylic that I was taking off, but no!! *FAIL*... Now I have 1/3 of a pinky nail :( I let it rest for a few days.  I actually had to wear a Hello Kitty Band-Aid on it for a few days because it was so painful :( ... So after it kinda healed... I just painted over the skin....

I didn't wanna get crazy so I decided to add a little bling to my thumbs only! I did this on New Years Eve so I used stars!!  It made sense at the time....
The stickers were really easy to use! I mean who can't use a sticker! I found that using a tweezers to remove the sticker works best and using a tweezers to place & press down the sticker is helpful.

Don't forget to add another coat of top coat!!! to help the sticker stay!!!

I usually hate not having an acrylic overlay on my nails because self done manis don't last on me at all.  I must say that this stayed "chip free" for about 5 1/2 days!!! That's actually a long time for me!!!!

Nailene Acrylic Strong Topcoat- I give this product! If this topcoat can make my home manis last longer, hey!
