Memoirs Of A Kitty

Hey Y'all!!

I got an email from Sephora today and they added a few things to the Hello Kitty Collection *faints*. Yeah, I'm still stank about the craptastic makeup brush set.  But this stuff looks so  cute. ^-^

Say Hello Palette $35

As much as I want this palette. I will probably have to pass. I doubt that the blushes will complement my skin tone. I also own all of the eyeshadow colors in some form or another. :( If I get this it would be for "collection purposes" only. *tear*

Memoirs of a Kitty Notebook $14

I'm all over this notebook!!!! I can justify this purchase!!! I don't have a pink sakura Hello Kitty notebook.

Memoirs of a Kitty Makeup Bag $28

See notebook justification above for an excuse about why I need this bag!

I need to go to Sephora ASAP and claim my stuff.. :)

Hello Kitty Everything

Hey Y'all

If you know me then you know that I have a thing obsession with Hello Kitty. I have Hello Kitty stuff all over the place.. So for my 3rd Birthday Party (the older I get the more birthdays per year I have) my bestie Brooke threw me a Hello Kitty themed party at our usual bar :)

My friend Karissa made me a sign :)

Hello Kitty Marshmallow Lolly's & a candy compact

(I thought it was eye shadow and my Jaimie and I kept trying to swatch the colors then we realized it was candy. Must be a beauty blogger thing)...

Perfect Napkins and Plates

Best Cake Ever :)

I didn't even cut it because I love it so much :)

Life Sized Ballon :)

I was being real extra :)

Jamie and I being silly :)

My first dress was black and pink. That's why I was wearing purple eyeshadow but that dress didn't fit :) I must of lost weight because it was hanging off of me so I had to wear something else and I didn't feel like re-doing my makeup.

I'm so blessed to have friends that put up with this kind of stuff :) XOXO

My friend from Long Island is still visiting and we've been running around Atlanta behaving like were 18. Even though it's Sunday were still going out to hit the town tonight :)

Happy Birthday to Me :)

Hey Y'all

Sorry for being MIA. Getting older is really time consuming and exhausting. I never understood why women lie about their age. I totally get it now. Turning 21 was frightening.  I avoided. I didn't want to talk about. I even tried to cancel it. I had to come to terms and deal with it. A girl only turns 27 once right? So I surrounded myself with good friends, yummy food and strong cocktails :) So here's my bday celebrations in photos.

Sunday April 3rd

Late Lunch at Six Feet Under

685 11th St Atlanta, GA 30318

I started my celebration by celebrating my friend Stephanie's birthday. We went to Six Feet Under and sat on the rooftop patio. It was a gorgeous day and the sun was blazing.

Monday April 4th

Margarita Monday's at Tijuana Joe's Cantina

7870 Roswell Rd. Atlanta, GA 30350

Nothing says welcome to maturity like day time drinking. Tijuana Joes is the place to do it! Its pretty much across the street from me. I can walk there. They don't really have "margarita Mondays" we just made it up.

Dinner at Outback Steakhouse

1220 Ashford Crossing Dunwoody, GA 30346 (Perimeter)

After a long day in the sun drinking margaritas it makes perfect sense to go pig out at Outback. Right?

Firebird

4719 Ashford Dunwoody Road # 101 Dunwoody, GA 30338-5552 (Perimeter)

My bestie Brooke insisted that we go there to ring in my bday at midnight. She wanted to witness me turn old. So we meet up with a few people there for the countdown to 28. My friend who is a bartender there won these guys from me from the machine thingy. I named the pig Karissa (after my friend Karissa who turned pink in the sun earlier that day, the duck's name is Megumi, and the bunny's name is Laquita). There were also a bunch of storms that night with crazy lightening and tornadoes. I was safe and snug at my favorite bar. I also got a lap dance.

It was an odd night. The storms were really bad. The news is reporting possibly 32 million dollars in damages.

Tuesday April 5th (My actual birthday)

I spent most of my day relaxing and detoxing from Monday's shannigans. I wasn't thrilled about my 26th bday what so ever.

Nori Nori

6690 Roswell Rd. Sandy Springs, GA 30328

I really wanted to have my bday dinner here. I've been wanting to eat here for months. I didn't do my research. They stop putting food out at 8:30 and stop warming it at 9pm. We got there at 8:45pm. So we had to switch up the plan.

Marconi Grill(Perimeter)

4788 Ashford Dunwoody Rd. Dunwoody, GA 30338

My 26th bday "portrait"

Figures that we'd end up someplace and draw all over the table. Acting extra mature for my 29th birthday.

After dinner we went to Firebird for drinks and cake and pure phuckery.

My friend Roald who works there reserved two tables for us and I walked right by. I didn't know that I was reserved special.

Publix cake!!! I swear Publix makes their cakes out of crack. They are so good. I also loved the Disney Princess candles :)

My two favorite snacks to go with my cake! (I know I'm a weirdo).

Me, Christian & Karissa

Cheers!

Me, Roald & Karissa

Me, Amy, Brooke & Stephanie

So that's the tame version of my 25th birthday celebrations. I'm getting old. I can't hang like I used to. I'm still tired, and the weekend is here.

Black Hair Media~Atlanta Divas Meetup

Hey Y'all,

I apologize for being late with this post. I'm a blogger not a journalist.. :)

Last Sunday I got to have lunch with some of the Atlanta members of BlackHairMedia.com I believe that most of us tend to post mainly in the Weaves & Extensions Section so everyone's hair was on point. I almost didn't go because my current hair style had seen its last days and I planned on getting my hair done later that week closer to my bday, but I didn't want to miss out.

We decided to meet Sunday at 2pm at California Pizza Kitchen-Atlantic Station.

Every time I go to Atlantic Station I lose my freaking car!!! There's an underground parking garage that spans the whole area.

Atlantic Station

Atlantic Station is huge! There's tons shops, movies, bars, and restaurants. It's almost like a city with in the city.

The parking is underground and you should really just make a map, especially if you wander Atlantic Station... I parked in Yellow Publix P1 (why I still remember that is beyond me). CPK is in the green part by the yellow arrow.

Underground Parking

This didn't even help me. I fail.

Events like this are so hard for me. I'm so shy, and I get so nervous. I'm working on my shyness. Going to events like these actually help. Everyone was so nice and friendly that I really had nothing to worry about.

When I arrived I was thinking to myself  "how will I find the group?" As soon as I walked in I saw two groups. One fabulous hair and the other smaller group average looking... I found my "people". We were a diverse group from bone straight to kinky curly! Short tressess and long ones and real long ones. We had to wait a while because CPK doesn't take reservations on Sundays. So we used the time to chat and introduce ourselves.

It was nice to finally put a face to to forum user-names, it's all fun to learn peoples real names and see their faces. Although I think we used real names and our online names interchangeably.

Once we were finally seated we started to chit-chat and look over the menu, by that time we were HUNGRY!! Thank goodness I ate a Lean Pocket in the mid-morning before going because I was hungry by the time we were seated. Our waiter Alejandro (<- I really remember random stuff) took our drink orders.

We went around the table and said what we were "wearing" :) Not clothes but hair.. Lol, I thought this was so cute and appropriate. I probably should of taken some notes.

So here are some pictures from the lunch!!!

Just desert no lunch!

Pizza

Afterwards some of the ladies went shopping!!! I unfortunately couldn't participate. My debit card is mad at me!!! I'm so glad that I went!! I had to go underground and hunt for my car. I had a great time. We said that we were going to try to get together more frequently. I'm looking forward to the next meetup! My hair is on point now and I need a "do-over".

Young Fabulous & Female

Hey Y'all

I had the honor to attend an awesome event that took place at the W Hotel in Buckhead Atlanta last Tuesday. The event was hosted by The Root and sponsored by Target, called "The Beauty of Success".

The Root hosted a panel, moderated by Jacque Reid journalist and on-air personality, Beverly Bond, founder of BET’s Black Girls Rock,  Terri Vaughn, actress; Meet the Browns, The Steve Harvey Show, and a host of other television shows and movie roles.  Tracey Ferguson, editor in chief of Jones Magazine; Donna Byrd, publisher of The Root.  Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George, SWV singer and author.(Cheryl Gamble "CoCo" and Leanne Lyons "Lelee from SWV , also participated in the panel).

The evening was a celebration of prominent, young and female women, the panel dicussed topics such as "What are the secrets to developing both inner and outer beauty?" "What challenges do successful black women face as they shape their careers and images?" "How does one find a mentor or become one? " "What must we do to increase the ranks of the young, fabulous and female within our community?"  The panel also opened the floor to audience questions as well.

I was invited as "Media" and Idid my best to be a good "journalist"... I took pages of notes  and tons of pictures and tweeted live along with the event (#youngfabandfemale). I almost didn't attend the event. When I recived the press release and invitation to attend as "press/media", I thought that I was being punked or that the PR Company contacted the wrong blogger... I mean I'm "Just A Girl". Will I fit in with these people? Am I pretty enough? Will I wear the right clothes, shoes?

I forced myself to go, something in my head said "if you don't go you will regret it", so I called my bestie and she said that she go with me. I took my defeatist attitude and looked in the mirror and said I deserve to go, I deserve this opportunity. Being a professional job hunter really takes a toll on yourself esteem. I find myself feeling like I don't deserve to do anything or go anywhere because I don't have a full-time job. I dropped my attitude, found a cocktail dress in my closet slapped my Spanxx on at went..

[caption id="attachment_615" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Salomon, Clemons, George, Lyons, Bond, Ferguson, Vaughn, Reid (Photo Credit:Jason Chunn)"][/caption]

I'm so glad that I went. I can sit here a type up dialouge of the entire event it's all in my notebook.. Instead I want to share some quotes and words that stuck with me and hopefully while reading them some may resonate or strike emotions within you..

"Inner beauty is what makes you fabulous".

"Self-esteem is a work in progress, water it and watch it grow."

"A man with a dream & no plan is a man with a wish".

"Learn to deal with the no's".

"When you pray ask God to make it OBVIOUS."

"When you see someone doing something you like, support it".

"Man's rejection is God's protection".

"You don't need to be in charge of something to make a difference".

"Remain humble and remember where you started".

"When we are all propelling each other, we all rise to the top."

Here are some photos from the event; click to enlarge.

[gallery link="file"]

I ran into Ms. Bombchell there! She reminds me how short I am. She's like Kimora Lee tall and I'm Snooki short >_<

The second best part of the evening were the gift bags!!! The bags were so cute, I would of been more than happy with just the bag.

Each gift bag had inside a $25 Target Gift Card, a really nice black Target Notebook, Target Pen (and it's a good pen, I'm a weirdo when it comes to pens and this one is a keeper), & a full sized tub of Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding.

Ignore my Press/Media Pass... I'm obsessed with it for some reason. I hung it on my fridge. It's kinda inspirating and looking at it reminds me to stay focused on my goals.

*A short video clip I took of Terri Vaughn telling us what makes her fabulous.

Please Help Lily- Stolen Puppy in the Atlanta Metro Area

Hey Y'all!!! This isn't a regular type of post but I need your help. A good friend of mine has the most adorable puppy named Lily. She and her and her family love Lily to pieces. I ask if you see Lily to please contact myself via email (which I will pass to or Jackie immediately). If you prefer to be anonymous and feel more comfortable emailing please do not hesitate to do it in an anonymous way. We just want Lily back at home with her family. She a a family pet. Whoever did this took a pet away from her family. There are three young children trying to  understand that their puppy was stolen. That's something no child should have to deal with and something that no parent should have to explain to their children.

She was taken from their front yard on Thursday January 20, 2011 around 2:30pm . Jacki and her family live in Norcross, GA which is a suburb of Atlanta.

DETAILS

Name: Lily

Breed: Morkie

Weight: 4lbs (she looks bigger because she's fluffy)

These are Jackie's words:
Today our 6 month old morkie was stolen from our front yard. Her name is Lily and she had a pink leopard tag, with a heart hanging that says "Please call Jackie 678 328 0292" She is our dear family pet and I feel completely destroyed inside. My three children are in even worse state. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE If you saw her or know who has her, we need her back.
She was given to us as a dear gift from my uncle and cousin last summer. She is the friendliest little creature you will ever meet. She is a fluff ball, black in color and her neck in white and beige. She is very little about 4 pounds. I live on Harbins Road off of Singleton Road. Please email text or call me if you have any info. We will be forever grateful. We dont have alot of money but you will be given a reward if found, please and thank you so much, may God help us find our sweet Lily :***(

Atlanta area bloggers and readers and I beg of you, if you've seen Lily please contact myself or Jackie. If you see her in a ad on Craigslist please contact us. People steal puppies and dogs and often sell them on Craigslist under the pets section to make a profit off of the adoption fee. :(

If your the low life or know the low life that STOLE Lily from her family. Please step up and do the right thing. If your afraid because you feel like an a$$hole contact me and I will give Lily back to Jackie and her family.

Thanks For Reading,
